Got to wondering about this earlier whilst listening to the Stones (certainly anti-establishment in their day) and i'm still stuck for an answer. The only thing that comes to mind is a tv presenter who came out as being gay. Not exactly 'sticking it to the man' (excuse the pun), but then again in a way it is in that it's a person going against the grain of 'normal' behaviour in asserting his right to be himself. So do you know of any person, movement or sub-culture, artistic or otherwise, that is willing to step outside the boundaries of what is acceptable here and shake things up?
"Sticking it to the man", my sides are in pain.
Well, I don't know if it counts, but there are some underground Chinese rock bands that are trying to stick it to da man, kind of.
I knew *one* girl like this. Artist, and daughter of a very rich business man with a troubled past. So, I would say, yes, but very rare.
anti-establishment = labor camp = re-education lessons.
One of the guys working in the meat section of our local supermarkert has long red hair.
But isn't this one of the big puzzles of China. No stepping out of line. People are extremely regimented. I was from day one amazed by the fact that there is ONE way of answering a phone.
