11 years 6 weeks ago in Teaching & Learning - China
30,000 plus free housing for teaching at an international school.
8k at a part time job, 30-35k from private-teaching.
Ummm... I'm on 18K after tax, plus what I pull in from examining (which could easily make another 20K, if I wanted to put in the work).
But, otherwise, about 35K in an OS partnership uni... but you prob need PhD (I didn't even get an email back with my Masters in Applied Linguistics...).
Also, I know ppl on 15 hrs per week, on about 15K/month (which is what I want!)
My salary is 9.5k eur/m [translated to hkd] + 2.5k for housing and food [which is not enough in HK for a decent apartment]. Before anyone asks, I have a PhD in the sciences. However I would say my salary is rather low, as I have former-classmates in Europe and the USA that pull in 13-25k.
Also I have a Londoner friend in Shanghai whom is an English teacher [this forum is mostly represented by teachers in that sector], he earns around 50-70k rmb/m. However he has a M.A. in Childhood education and has been working in China for maybe 7 years now.

How's your friend make 50-70K as a teacher?? As a boss, I can understand it...
MasqueX:
He has a partnership with a school in Suzhou. Apparently he was their first English teacher several years ago, and now they have 3-4 children's schools. All of which net him a percentage of the total profits.
Dang! I thought I was doing OK!
Dammit!
<sorry>
The most I've heard of is 16K RMB per month plus accommodation.
I've found with salaries, similar to frequency of sex that there is often a large gap between the salary talked about and the one paid.

Very true statement! I had a jerk ex-boss that used to make wild claims about taking in  900k+ USD a year because he said his labs always produced the best pharm and pubs. My classmates and I revered him because we all thought his was a true success story. It's a pharm scientists wet dream to be on a team that create a billion dollar pill. After graduation, some classmates met his ex-wife at a conference; and boy did she set the record clear on her husbands 'wealth.' He married rich with no pre-nup. Apparently some men do get the better from divorce. Try 200k/yr! Ha!
Not the highest salary i've heard of but I did meet a Belgium fella who was making 20,000 a month plus the usual perks. Not bad considering English was his second language.
I work a few hours at the weekend and pull in about 10k a month. If I could be bothered to work harder and find some work during the week I could easily double that.
Used to work at a training center for 30-40hrs a week fulltime and get 6k, then I realized the way to make money without the work is to specialize, Corporate or Kids, either of those can make you the big bucks if you're doing it private, I do corporate and charge no less than 750/hour, more if there are over 10 students in the class.
