It was designed to run at 350kph but after the Wuhan accident they now run at 300kph. I have ridden the Beijing Tianjin train before the accident and it reached 349kph. The high speed train has a digital display at the end of each carriage showing the speed.
So unless you want a novelty ride on the Shanghai maglev 300 is the best you will do at present.

I think you meant Wenzhou accident. I was almost on that train!!!

Hey thanks. Can you confirm when was the last time you took that train?
#6 Taiwan's THSR 700T can transport nearly 1,000 people at breakneck speeds of up to 208 MPH.
#3 Japan is known for the bullet train, so it's no surprise that the Shinkansen train has a top speed of 275 MPH. It has also been nicknamed the "Duck-Billed Platypus" due to its unique nose.
#1 Not ones to be outdone, China broke the 300 MPH barrier with the CRH380A. The 302 MPH top speed makes this the fastest possible way to legally travel by land.

cooter Yes the Wenzhou accident is what I meant.
morocotopo. I traveled on the Beijing Tianjin train in late 2010. All high speed trains now run 50kph below their previous top speeds. I am a long time railway worker and find the trains in China to be a great way to travel and still relatively very safe considering the size of the network and numbers of passangers.
