Q: Where can I buy Chinese books in America?

Not books on China, or language books. I'm looking for children's books and such. Maybe books for adults too (no, not THOSE kind of books). Chinese language only... not interested in books written in English.

Thanks!

I can think of 3 places to start looking:

Foreign language section in your local book-shop

Book shops that supply books for schools – might have Chinese for beginners

Amazon

If there are other local Chinese people in your area, where would they go?

Hulk:

No, I mean like Chinese children's books, and not language books at all. Just books for children to read, assuming they know Chinese.

None of those places have what I'm looking for, and I'm not too keen on going back to China just to buy them... but I may end up doing that anyway.

I must not have been looking deep enough on Amazon. I just found a few books... after searching and not finding anything. I wanted to double check to prove you wrong, but ended up finding them!

Thanks.

They are available in the bigger book stores, your local library system, and also at Amazon.com where you can buy them.

What city are you in, if there is a Chinatown they usually have a bookstore that sells Chinese magazines and  childrens books

If you are planning ahead and thinking of buying several books for different childrens ages (to be used as your kids grow up), as well as your own and your wife's use, you can try taobao. They ship internationally, you can save on shipping fee if buying in bulk and the books will be at a much lower price than in the US. Not sure about import tax though

Hulk:

Please show me where taobao ships internationally... thanks.

Most people on Taobao will agree to ship internationally for a price. Just use the chat feature and ask them.

For Baby-Hulk I can see the advantage in "real books" for the first couple of years, for Mrs. Hulk, get her a Kindle and quit ruining the planet by wasting resources on printing books.

Amazon.com has half a million books in Chinese, it is probably a happy mix of simplified and traditional Chinese.

Face it they don't exist....the top bookstores in America Barnes & Nobles being number 1 don't carry books like that. The other top tier bookstore like Books a Million won't carry that type of book either.
