Regarding my previous question, Pizza Hut is a huge success here. T.G.I Friday also exists but there's only a few around town. I know these are pretty trashy places, so what kind restaurant chain would you like to see? For all you Brits, one of my guilty pleasures is Nando's - would love to see that here!
I wouldn't mind seeing Taco Bell here I like the taco's that they had back in the states soft shelled or hard shelled. And I'm a little bias when I say Hardee's/Carl's Jr because I used to work there for awhile before I headed out to the military long time ago>
Hooters
crimochina:
beijing hooters had some "hooters" and it is just like the hooters in the states awful food for lonely guys to have someone act like they're really into them
TedDBayer:
I went to the original Hooters in Florida and was disappointed. I thought the girls were too skinny and they all looked 17.
Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, IHOP....it's so hard to find a decent western breakfast outside of pricey buffets at international branded hotels.
diverdude1:
the only danger of having a real 'Cracker Barrel Restaurant' here is I would be one broke m'fkr !
Panda Express, for some authentic tasty Chinese food without MSG.
By the way, Nando's and their amazing tasty chicken are South African
Whetherspoons
OwainLW:
Spoons! haha. THE place to be in provincial UK towns on a Friday night.
mike168229:
Oh how I miss those places!
No atmosphere, no music, but by god it was a good place to sink a few cheap ones!
White Spot, my BC homeboys know what I'm talking about.... they're in HK.
Nandos for sure. Nandos is also huge in Australia. There must be some political reason why there are no Nandos in China because I have no doubt it would be massively popular here.
Traveler:
Chinese students studying in Australia also seem to love Nandos.
Someone said Taco Bell. Yeah, I'd like to see a Taco Bell in China. Oh! And a 24-hour Denny's. (Yank chain. No pun intended.) Omelets, eggs, bacon, link sausages, biscuits and gravy, whole wheat toast, club sandwiches, etc. round the clock. They're all over Tokyo. Why not here?
bill8899:
Grand Slam! I want the Grand Slam now!! Denny's rules; best breakfast any time, wifi, hide in the back dining room and do paperwork. Ahhhh
The Texas Roadhouse Restaurant chain, y'all!!!
Yipikaiyei !!
we have carls jnr in fuzhou - I saw his burger and now I'm a believer
teppanyippee, or portobello mushroom or jalapeno
yes nandos would be swell
red rooster chicken dinner
cumberland bangers & mash with wavy gravy from the irish pub
tapas platter
assuming they could keep up the quality....
In 'n Out Burger ! fk yeah
not necessarily a chain but back in Atlanta, we had hot-wing joints and Jamaican restaurants on every street corner. I could go for some of those right now.
Sinobear:
Yeah! Real suicide buffalo wings and goat roti with a cup of "real" Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee!
I went to a Burger King here and was totally disappointed..they didn't have half the menu of a western Burger King. Like many western chains, certain food items are left out or missing from the menu. So, what's the point?
And yes, Nandos! Oh I miss Chicken that is juicy and has not been through a blender!
No to Taco Hell, that place gives me the runs at home, China would be worse and I'm not crazy for Mexican.
I vote for Tim Hortons but when they made and carried donuts, not the frozen limited supply they have now.
I read an article a year ago that Denny's was expanding over here........but I've set to see any. I think I also read there used to be a Wendy's or 2 here, which I would love. I found one in Malaysia but they didn't have bacon. Another solid choice, have in H.K. but not here would be Outback Steakhouse however, I'm sure the prices would be like 550 RMB for a steak.
I also would like to see a Taco Bell here. There's a Mexican restaurant here in HK near Mong Kok which serves decent tacos, but nothing like Taco Bell. Back in my university days Subway and Taco Bell were my addiction. Cheap, filling, and delicious. GOD I'M SO HUNGRY FOR A BURRITO SUPREME NOW!!!
Denny's or Cracker Barrel
Chinese breakfast is NOT the best meal of the day.
IHOP. I've been hankering for some strawberry crepes lately.
Viva Brazil, or Black Angus, or something similar, the only food I really miss is a quality blues rare steak. Heck I'd cook my own (I did regularly in the UK) but I cannot even find average steaks, let alone quality steaks. (I'm a rump man myself).
BHGAL:
well Hugh, you are now invited to a meal you may never have expected in China..........not far from where I am, is a very nice restaurant, with a very nice decor and a very quiet clientele .............. and they have some very nice New Zealand Beef..............I'm Canadian but I do admit that NZ beef is on a par with ours....
steaks and roasts and my fav Prime Rib ...... been there twice and not disappointed.Taco Bell, but sadly they've come to China before it failed pretty bad. Just not a type of food Chinese people will be into I suppose.
Something like IHOP would be nice. I agree the breakfast in China isn't very good.
