Q: why didn't they ask China to enter?

Watching the pommy car show Top Gear and the feature story was the fastest Taxi on the race track ,
Well they had the English Black cab ,the New York Yellow Cab , a VW from Mexico, something a Elephant sat on from India, ,a kraut Mercedes Benz and a Russian town car that was about 30 feet long . However the humble Beijing sidewalk cruiser was left out,
You can't tell me that it would have been to slow or un entertaining watching it go faster at the site of a Zebra Crossing. With people on it .
The horn blaring the whole race and then charging the show double that of what was on the meter
Why would they leave poor misunderstood China out of such a thing as a taxi race ?

They didn't leave China out, when they gave the cabby the address to the studio he took the long way round. They're still waiting for him to turn up.

If you look at the lineup. UK, US and Mexico are represented by cars that are iconic as cabs in these countries. Russia is the comic relief in the segment. A Hong Qi would have made just as much sense, but it is probably to rare to just trash like any random limo (Lincoln Town Car?) The South African entry I cannot speak to. What would represent China, a beat up old VW Jetta ?

Of course, with at least 1 mil. Km on the odo.

After watching the same show a while ago, I did ask myself the same question.

They probably did it on purpose. Otherwise it would be like having Usain Bolt racing the 100m against junk food lovers.

Probably because a Chinese taxi wouldn't just drive on the track. maybe even go the wrong way. I took a cab one night, wrong way on a 6 lane road and the driver never bothered getting on the right side even though we did go through intersections..
