Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: why do chinese guys hide behind girls?
this is mainly for the teachers , especially university teachers.
2-3 times a semester a student would do something wrong or not do something. (not coming to class for a large part of the semester, cheating, not doing a major assignment etc.)
when it's a female student they contact me directly with no go between (i still can't do anything for them, their screw up). 90% of the time when it is a guy they ask a girl to talk to me on their behalf. (it has nothing to do with language). i find it absolutely irritating. you are a god damn man. you decide to miss half the semester. you did not do any work. but you are gonna ask some girl that is dumb enough to to ask me if you can come to class without "punishment" . seriously??? WTF can someone clue me in to what the hell goes on with their chinese teachers. do students get credit for not doing the work? and it is not a class monitor thing either. only once did the girl turn out to be the class monitor. maybe something is wrong with me. i was raised to be a man. i was raised to expect other men be men. god i need a drink
edit: i forgot to add this. most of the time they contact me through qq. i tell the lady to have the dude contact me directly. haha that usually promises a no response.
Probably for the same reason you don't air your views in public, but hide behind your computer.
OR, It could be that they think by getting a girl to speak to you you're more likely to be lenient because they think, or know, you're a sucker for a sweetheart.
crimochina:
you are funny. especially since after every time this happens i restate my rules to the class telling them what i think of people using go between. also it is your chinese govt that punishes people for having the "wrong opinion" tell your govt to allow people to speak freely and watch what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
crimochina:
oh and i'm not chinese so using a girl through qq does not make me googoogaga. but now i do understand it a little bit more. according to you chinese make teachers are suckers for the female students and often break the rules or overlook things for them. thanks for the input

Says the xiao ren from the safety of his keyboard lol
Yep, as a male you're going to be more leniant towards the little sweetheart girl.
But then it doesn't explain why they still don't contact you when the girl attempt fails.
These boys also know their girl counterparts are better at English. I think they've felt royally screwed from the start that girls are actually better in this case... and just give up...
crimochina:
not a language barrier issue. the last 2 years i have been teaching students who are preparing to go abroad. all the students are advance
It's because when they see you coming they know you would turn into Bell instead of coming at them like the Beast!
Nessquick:
I guess he use to smoke too much, more than he can bear out :D
And as if there were no "mama's boys" in the West? Please, really.
crimochina:
in "the west" mamas boys are regarded as lets say not a good thing to be. in china, it is the norm.
981977405:
the norm according to whom? and by what standards? and who sets the norm to which you are referring?
giadrosich:
I think "the norm" would be defined by what most people do at any given time, which is probably set by the majority of the people in any given population within a confined border. Standards are usually established by a community. It differs from place to place, but here in China, it does seem to be the norm for the males to be rather effeminate. Perhaps this is reflected in the many shows that I've seen on Chinese T.V. where the male is (in many cases) deferring to the female.
I'm sure there are exceptions, of course, but this does seem to be the way things are here.
