I'm not talking about the salary that's what you get for you labor. I'm talking about real benefits like medical, dental, the 501k plan, retirement benefits etc., This is actually a big reason why I prefer to work back home then work here. No company that I've been to offers these benefits...what say you JACK?

They do have all those benefits and they should , which company you work for?
mattaya:
I'm pretty sure schools don't provide that sort of stuff...some schools don't even help in offering you a visa which is another benefit that is wasted because of saving money!

My mom is a teacher and she have all those benefits, she doesn't need to pay for electricity, medical care, she has all sort of insurance, double salary every december, blah blah.blah. still getting paid during any kind of national holiday... now she is retired and she is still getting paid and benefits. oh, sometimes school will take her and me for free trips~
They get an end of year bonus before the Chinese New Year.
Foreigners don't get that.
Matty: Never had a 501k provided by previous employers in the US.....a 401k was usually pretty standard though.
Dharma: I've gotten a hongbao at CNY from the boss both years I've been here. I guess in some circumstances, they might consider your "reimbursed airfare" as your holiday bonus.

Yes, that's what I assume. It barely covers a one way flight, but it's equal to 2 months pay, so it's like I get paid for every month of the year, even though I only worked for 9.
I receive all listed except retirement which I pay into myself.
Matty you must work for a crap company, but i imagine it is the best you can do.
Why, who have benefits at home? Why expect here? No 501 in China.
Why would you expect things to be the same, you come here for the challenge, for the experience, don't think everything is going to be the same.
I'm sure your spending power is much higher with your China salary than US salary, I know mine is. Back home I spend 50-60% on rent, here more like 20%. I think foregoing some of these "benefits" isn't really a big deal, especially considering I can visit the doctor for less than the cost of a family night out in a western restaurant!
If you don't like what you get then you can easily pack up and return to the States, I'm sure you'll get all these nice benefits and as an added benefit you can have the stress that goes with being in a job in the West!
I have some of the benefits you mention and others that you don't : full medical coverage at 80% for major medical; prescription plan for dispensed medicine; 8 weeks paid summer vacation; 7 weeks or longer paid winter vacation; less than 16 total contact hours per week; subsidized rent (pay nothing); subsidized heat (pay nothing); partially subsidized Internet; meal plan at school, etc, etc. True no retirement plan but there is one in place.
