I have just been recruited by a school that is happy to arrange me a working permit, now this will be my first work permit in about 3 years and currently I'm on the spousal residence permit.
does anyone (particularly British) know how difficult it is to change and would I need to return to the UK or could an agent handle everything.
thanks

All you need is the security check from the U.K which you can order by mail, everything else can and should be done by your company and Hong Kong.

I didn't need to mention the BA degree because I can feel you have it. But Others should know they'll need their BA,BS or whatever Degree you have, with a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA and a release letter if you're leaving a company and a canceled work certificate (Redbook) and a FBI or U.K security check.
Sorry to my follow Americans, getting your FBI record is a pain in the butt if you're already here, but it can be done. Just have sent with a permission letter allowing your family to receive it and with a Phone number where the FBI can contact you, YES the FBI can call you in China to confirm if you really allowed your family to receive your FBI record.
After that your family can send it here by FeD-x and make sure you get the tracking number.
As for my friends from the U.K yes you can order your security check and have it sent to China 10x more faster and easier then us Americans, I envy you.
