Working for anyone without the proper visa, even on a "probationary" period is illegal. And if the school was operating within the law, they would get you that visa before you even started to work.
Most likely, they will only use you for the probationary period, then dump you for the next person for fall for their BS.

What happens to me is that I see my life in China as something normal and ordinary, but from time to time I see something that makes me realize how far away from home, and I feel like...wow, I'm in China!

If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me. However, I'm fairly certain that your resume has nothing to do with you getting a Visa. It simply has to do with a job wanting to hire you or not.
I know nowadays supposedly your suppose to have a couple of years of teaching experience get a working Visa so in that case they may need proof of that, but I have yet to see that...

Oh, one final thing. It's not a check, per se, but....newbies, come with at least $3-4,000 in the bank so that if you get to China and your employer is dodgy, you can't handle the place, whatever, you can turn around and get straight on a plane home.

sounds like you've been TCM'ed. Typically when you get the large amount of pills, it is some kind of condensed vegetables. I am sure you would have gotten over your ear infection just as fast had you not taken them, two weeks sounds like a long time to wait for an ear infection to go away.
