As much as I hate baijiu I partake all the time for business..sometimes good stuff like Maotai and other times normal stuff.    When in Rome....

    Staying home alone is boring.

Preparing for classes is part of being a teacher. 25 hours is high, but if that's the contract you signed, so be it.  Are you a new teacher? If so, just take it as a general rule that for every 2 hour in a classroom, you'll need to spend 45 minutes or so doing stuff outside the classroom (marking, preparing, dealing with student/parent/admin issues) and this time should be built into your...

"However, they will need your passport to cancel your visa"

The last school I was at tried to do this. Don't. My argument was that I paid for the visa and expected a refund. This made them think. The part about the money I mean. If that is the case you should offer to go to the PSB with them to convert it to a tourist Visa.  The PSB will ,of course, have some questions for...

School can assign as many hours per week/month as it is stated in the Contract. If School assign 'overtime' without your agreement, you can walk away from the School with RP intact. School is in Contract breach.

If you signed Contract with US$ 3000 fine for early Contract termination, US$ 3000 fine is legal. Same as anything written in the Contract bearing your signature...

Have you considered talking to your University/College? Back home they have departments that are set up for situations like this.

Also, if you have no money now then how are you going to have money in the future to pay back the loan?

As others have said, getting a loan from a Chinese bank is impossible unless you work for a company willing to insure...

I'm seconding Hulk's Yunnan suggestion. Lugu Lake is really lovely. Though I recommend going to the not touristy side of the lake (I'm sorry I've forgotten whether that is the east or west side).

Another great Yunnan option is Nujiang and Dulongjiang (though you'd have to stick around in China until May to go to Dulongjiang: the pass is closed until then due to...

I witnessed two cases for Canadian Immigration, man Canadian, woman Chinese

    Case 1.

Legally married 4 years, lived together more than 2 years, man in late 50's, woman late 40 's, no baggage, man has decent income in Canada, 3 years tax return, 600 e mails and chat records, 30 pages of telephone bills called from and to Canada,  thousands of...

I'd advise against giving too little.  You should, at least, cover the expense of your lunch.  My wedding was about Y2500 per table, so Y250 per guest.  We received anywhere between Y200-1000 from our guests.

Just don't. I avoid rush hour as much as possible. I'd prefer to stay late at work than enter that hell. I'll sometimes cycle part of the way so that I don't have to be on for quite as long.

if you do go down the music and vodka route, be sure to buy noise cancelling headphones. There is nothing worse than being on the underground and having your music...

I would say that the visa refusal is justified.

I know that the British visa interviews are tough.  As a result of personal experience, I also understand why.

Add to this, the UK has more people wanting to go there then any other nation/country in the world - including the US.

We have the EU to contend with.  We have a...

My mother in law has one on the main water pipe into her apartment, so all taps have filtered water (and the toilet flushes using filtered water I guess) The water taste a bit funny at times, but I've drunk it straight from the tap many times and have not had any laduzi attacks.

There are different grades of purifiers, some will filter off more crap than others. To...

I had my FAO in my city call about this, and was told that the paper was not required for renewal of my work license, only for initial applicants. Yay! But I am eight months out from a renewal and they can change their minds at any time.

According to www.lawandborder.com, Qingdao does not require...

I think the places you mentioned are your best options but I would also check out Yashow Market and Silk Market. They stock fake designer coats and some don't even look half bad. Of course you'll have to spend half the day bargaining down the price but if you want to skip the usual chain-store then this may be a good choice. Oh, and don't forget about Beijing Zoo Market. If you're brave enough...

according to the law,the landlord is responsible for repairing anything in the house,if he doesnt do anything after you tell him,you can have it fixed and he should pay,but you'd better let him know at first if you do so and give him a fapiao or receipt as a proof about how much you have paid for that so you could deduct the fee from your rent in the next month.when i have this problem,i...

Hi, I did a little research as I also want to avail of this service. Here's what I found:

    1. Must be 16-65 year old

    2. must show valid ID and give a 200 RMB deposit though some districts’s deposit amounts vary.

    Songjiang District info: http://www.sjbike.com/sjbike/zcwd.asp

I have been driving here for over three years. Its not difficult at all once you get the hang of it. They're a lot of myths people dream up. The two biggest ones are:

    1. In an accident the foreigner is always at fault. I have only had one minor accident, got sideswiped by a truck. Cop said the other driver was in the wrong and the guy gave me 300rmb (cost 250 to fix)....

Weixin or WeChat is the new way to stay in touch, didn't you know? Forget Weibo or even Facebook. If you're living in China and have friends here Weixin is the number one way to see what people are doing (in the moments section similar to the news feed on facebook), send free pics and voice messages and even send videos. There's also a dating element to it where you can "throw a bottle" into...

China is a really expensive country, there isn't really any good values to be had. Cheap stuff is of such poor quality that it's not worth buying (Yes you can buy $10 jeans in china but they'll never fit right and last a year tops, 50 bucks in the US you can get a decent pair on sale) and decent stuff is much more expensive. Ditto food and housing too. The only way that china is cheap is that...

The different EU countries have different requirements so it depends a little bit on where you are.

    1. The typical requirement is that each purchase, that is a single receipt (can be multiple items) must be for a certain amount (and the amount differs hugely)

    2. The shop you shop in, must be able to actually handle the paperwork. They need to issue a specific receipt that...
