I completely understand your argument but not all foreigners in China have this mentality....maybe a lot on this forum...but certainly not all.

After some time in China I became the opposite due to circumstance.

Being wined and dined and treated like a rock star made me mostly fearless in China...even favor at the PSB due to business partners speaking on my...

I just consider the aspect of fuel, I don't comment on other technical aspect. Rocket engines did not fundamentally changed since the 60's ie. about the same performances. What improved over time was the cost to build rockets, not the rockets performances.

Want to send people on the Moon ? You have to send people with life support and lots of gears and stuffs. You have to bring back...

It's 50/50 here in Shanghai, it can be much like everywhere else in China. None of the locals look at me as a foreigner so I sought of blend because I look and am half Asian, but my girlfriend on the other hand has had a few oldies give her a stare and throw an apple core at her (not joking).

I was once called a "Japanese dog" because I came back to SH once with a tan, but...

In a culture where all men cheat, and where girls would trade anything for material possessions, the prevalence of prostitution cannot be challenged.

The police crackdown has made the industry dark and dangerous (especially for the girls involved), while what China really needs is gender equality, better access to higher education for women, and a stronger job...

Answer of the Day is determined by one of the administrators. It has nothing to do with the number of thumbs up.

Constructive answers that are neutral or positive in tone are more likely to get Answer of the Day. Answers that are critical tend not to, though this hasn't always been the case (administration has changed a few times I think).

Every city in every province is different man.  It also depends on their financial situation as well as yours.

In many cities people that work give hong bao to people that dont.

In guangdong where my wife is from people that are married give it to people that arent.

Her family still gives me hongbao, and we just give to kids.  Usually Ill load up on...

Actually, I think your question is quite normal.  It spawns from the memory of the excitng life you once had as a single person.  I've got news for you.  EVERYONE who's married feels the same at least once.  It doesn't matter if you married the most gorgeous, sane, intelligent woman alive.  There comes a point where, after smelling her farts and bad breath, you start...

(This is from the HM Revenues and Customs site)

Tobacco allowances if you are coming from outside the EU

You can bring in one from the following list:
    200 cigarettes
    100 cigarillos
    50 cigars
    250g of tobacco

Or you can combine these allowances. For example, if you bring in 100 cigarettes (half your full allowance) you can also bring in 25 cigars (...

Rabbit in spicy oil in take away plastic bowl (nibble food). Spoon won't do it as there's too much oil/messy, fork won't do it as there's bone and you linger for too long trying to score...so chopstick is the only thing to do the job effectively and efficiently, the best thing for the job. Grab it with precision, shake or let it drain and munch it, pick the bone out of mouth if required with...

Yup, I know all about this.

The taxi drivers have totally cut me off hundreds of times without warning because there is a fare. There should be a checklist of mentalities you need to realize when you come to China:

    1) Grow a thick skin, cause people are poorly mannered, will stare and whisper about it and it will become annoying.

Although it looked the part, it's true

I bought that sh*t on Gucheng Lu

    I smacked him twice

    But with a shock

I found it was a plain, green rock

The bloke who sold it to me swore

QQ is great in terms of a chat vehicle.  It is also great in terms of being spyware, a virus generator, an all-around PC hijacker and the lack.

I do use QQ but I use a version that has been sanitized by the Malaysian government.  Just search through google.  You can find the version there.

In my country we have many races, cultures and shades of skin colour.  Lot's of different people with something in common. They are all citizens of my country. Everyone has the same rights as everyone else.

All the best, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so China will always be good in that sense. We all know she's a piece of work, dishing out the very bad with the very good. But it will have been an adventure if nothing else.

Hard to fight a compulsion when you feel it's time to exercise it. Go home. Yes, there will be some reverse culture shock, but you haven't been away for that long, have you?

You'll miss China, but you'll get over it in due time. Family and friends will contribute a lot to your repatriation. Embrace your peeps as they will be there for you to make the necessary re-adjustments you need to...
