I tried the Party in Beijing app but it kept recommending me to Tupperware parties.  In fact If you like tupperware parties Party in Beijing is the best app ever! But if you like any other kind of party whatsoever DO NOT USE THIS APP.

I read a couple of time that the apron have a thin layer of lead inside, to protect the baby from electromagnetic radiation from things like computer screens. Anybody to confirm or infirm this ?

Choose several major agents in the area - they will all have the same listings.

Write your requirements out in Chinese.

Go through each point with the agent to confirm understanding.

Verbally go through which points are negotiable and be firm on minimum standards and maximum monetary amounts.

Ask for when such apartments may be viewed and be clear that if you are...

Yeah, I thought it was ridculous and then realized English has similar things. One sheet of paper.. couldn't be one sheet of beer. Though it is friday and hot so I wish the notebook next to me was 180 sheets of beer.

Anyway, you gradually pick them up. Until you do just use 个 for anything you are sure about the measure word. Its something foreigners are forgiven for because its not...

I do not understand why China cannot get a World Cup qualifying team going. Let's look at the math........................

    1,300,000,000 Chinese people.

650,000,000 males (actually more than this, since there are more men in China than women because of sex selection abortion which is appalling, but that is another argument)

    Men...

Sorry to tell you but that is the normal price for any visa Agent. If your passport is from a high class economically country then just mail your passport to America or the U.K for a new visa, it'll cost 3000 if you do it this way. Just Google: china visa service in California..

If you're too scared to do it yourself then the Visa House is the only real agents in Shenzhen that people...

A summary from the wall of text: rich spoiled kid do some shit and their daddeh and mommeh rescue them.

Not really a china or china vs other country problem, this shit happens all the time. The main thing is that currently law only apply to poor people. The banks screw the world with financial crisis, despite they aren't killing people directly but due to it lots of people...

The PSB gave a family visa to a friend of mine because he could support himself by working online and because the salary was coming in from a different country. So it made it easier for the PSB to give him a longer visa.

I understand where you're coming from, but you'll have to talk to the PSB. Many people work online with all kinds of jobs, not just teaching. There's graphic design,...

That's a great question, it's been asked in Wall Street every year, Only British and Americans need a criminal background check if its a new Z visa gig.  we got a Canadian couple last March and they asked the same thing. Maybe a better relationship with China and less violence.  I know Canada is special to Koreans, they adore all teachers from there.

ok, so you want a language exchange.

maybe you should change the question above to reflect that.

I have had unfortunate experiences with language exchange.

The person involved usually suddenly became 'too busy'  when it was my turn to learn Chinese, or when i suggested teaching me first, suddenly had 'something else to do'

    So you will excuse my...

IF worse comes to worse for 2 people x 2 new visa's might only be Y5500+ shipping and handling because Americans, Canadians and British can send their passports back to the U.S or the U.K for a new visa, its the new trend. Just find a Chinese visa specialty service provider in California or Texas and mail it back..

BTW the passport idea was just an emergency backup plan if the PSB...

Not exactly what a student said, but wrote.

    * On the concluding slide of one of my lectures, I wrote "Beware, the results obtained through XXX should be taken with a grain of salt".

    * At the exam, I asked questions where the answer is not directly, verbatim written in my course materials. The students should make their own reasoning to reach a conclusion, using what was taught...

    Hi Maggie,

做月子 is "pretty hard for us guys to understand" because it's irrational, pre-scientific nonsense based on primitive men's fear of childbirth and various other superstitions from a bygone era.

I wouldn't support any women doing that, whether inside or outside China. That said, I wouldn't marry someone whose understanding of the world...

I actually couldn't care less although I am Chinese. If I had to worry about face all the time, I'd lose my benefits as a foreigner. Benefits meaning I am allowed not to know about face, about people spitting their throats out, not washing themselves in the heat of summer, etc. Where I come from, you'd lose more face spitting and not washing up. So the concepts don't add up. I just ignore it....

All you can really do is

    1. try to get to the squatter and not puke all over someone's table while running there with your hand over your mouth trying to hold it in. It's not always that easy.

2.bend over at the hips  and try to get as much as you can into the squatter, sort of like when you puke into your toilet at home.

    3. try not to splatter your shoes too much.

If you are active in your kid's life (teaching him values and helping him think for himself) and there isn't a better alternative then I can see doing Chinese school for the first couple of years.  They will learn to be responsible by taking studying seriously (setting them up to do well academically in a western environment) and will have mastered Chinese at an early age which will be of...

Wow, I just read this thread and I must say, people on this forum are EDGY! It's like they come here to rant and sometimes those rants are misdirected and end up at each other.

    1. I read the question before I read the answers and never did I epxect people to lash out at Mike for asking it. People calling him all this shit because he shared a nice moment he was having...

@KimOnAch Well, back in the 40's, US armies freed my country, while a large part of the population was just looking, and the "elite" just gave up. They did not do that alone, it was a large concerted effort, of which USSR did the brunt of the job. However, US gave generous helps to clean-up the mess and rebuild. Unlike USSR, countries who accepted the help did not have to become a US-bis. This...

Well, I can think of a few...kids wanting to break dance. They need space and music too. The dance music ladies play isn't exactly appropriate. Roller blading is another, space needed. Outdoor parties, kids love them, space needed. With dance music blaring, it just tells people to go away unless you want to join the ladies.
