It doesn't require a huge amount of space or equipment,
Then you have the virtuous circle effect, China is good at badminton, Badminton therefore becomes a popular spectator sport, so more people play Badminton. More people play Badminton so China finds more good Badminton players so become better at Badminton and the circle goes round again.
it is easier to operate. This sport is suitable for Chinese.

I think being a little bit fat is not bad when you are over 40.
that will make you look younger because of less wrinkles.

So that leaves the two of us in the same boat...skillful, but a tad slower than we used to be.
Badminton was originally developed by the Chinese not as a sport but as a method of teaching their pet cage birds how to fly. It caught on as a sport when someone suggested making an artificial cage bird to belt around the room after killing fifty of his favourite little friends. Thus, "feather ball" came into being in the Middle Kingdom.

No, sorry. It's all bovine excrement but I couldn't resist making it up!
Actually, cause it is quite fun!
Not as heavy as a tennis racket and, at least when I play, I get a very rigorous workout (the students I play with barely move, and I am tearing all over the court trying to get the shuttlecock)!
Used to think it was a dumb game before coming to China and now I love it!
Why is Basketball & Football so popular in America & Europe.
It's the same.Man
Badminton is pretty cool. I played in NFLD in high school and now I play it here on the weekends with some students and some of the Chinese teachers and it's really competitive. A great sweat too. After a few hours of action we head to the restaurant and down a few...good times!
