Q: For all you Americans living in China...

Who will you vote for and why?

More importantly will you vote and how will you do it?

Have your opinions or views on politics changed since living in China?

I vote that the US government stops their adolescent nay saying and finger pointing, and try to work together to fix the issues that need to be addressed....

But there isn't a box on the ballot for that. So I would vote for Obama. I know he isn't every one's favorite, but I think that he could really do well if others around him (on both sides) came together and worked.

I think Romney is a tool, and Ryan lies a lot. I think they are just attacking and trying to get people to be anti-democrat. Its kinda like 2004, Kerry was up against bush as "not-bush". You dont run a campaign on the negative. It makes your nominee look like he has no platform. In this case the GOP is skewing points to make Obama look worse, not talking about actual policy changes they are planning. And so Obama just has to talk about what he has done that is good.

Maybe the man behind the curtain wants it to be a weaker candidate so they can keep in who they want. But if they wanted that, they could have at least let Trump be the nominee. It would have been a hilarious campaign trail.

As for if I will vote. The answer is no. Overseas ballots are only counted when the race is close in that state. And I am from Texas, not likely to be very close there

Also not voting.  If it were something where I could just hop online and vote, I'd vote for not-Obama.  I'm not rich, but not poor either.  I usually side with less government, less welfare.  Don't really see the need to foot the bill for someone else to stay at home and collect unemployment/"disability" checks.  There are jobs out there....

crimochina:

but it is ok for billionaires to pay 15% in taxes? i paid over 30% . both demorats and pubiclicans should be locked up for treason . but we need govt more effective and a common sense govt.

You paid over 30%?  You're doing it wrong.  I make less than 6 figures...I think I usually end up around 20% or less.

Yep, total.  No kids here either.  Also, my state doesn't have income tax.

Really, you should be paying less than me I think, especially if you can stay in China year round.  My tax dude (and others) tell me if you spend less than 30 days in the US, that exempts you from paying any Federal Income tax on your wages (you still owe the Social security tax of 7.5% and any state level income taxes).

I thought that this site was for questions about China.   Who cares about what happens in the USA?

Not looking for a fight again are you, Loke my friend? The question was a valid one. I'm sure many who come to China find their views change, and their view of western 'democracy' with them. Above all I think people like to celebrate once in a while, their freedom to choose their political lea...

Sorry man, couldn't get through that. Just spit out a big mouthful of coffee trying.

As a resident of Puerto Rico, I cannot vote in presidential elections even though I am a US Citizen.

Now, if I could vote, I would vote by write in ballot: Donald Duck for President, and Daffy Duck for V/P.

Yes, I am serious.

Mickey Mouse has been the favored write in candidate for many, many years.

Yes, that is true. Problem is that I think Washington DC has enough rats already, so maybe the ducks can do a better job?

Anyway, Donald always seemed more "macho" to me, but that is just my opinion...

I voted Ron Paul. Now that he's out, I'd side with Gary Johnson. I hate Obama and Romney. Hope they get cat AIDS.

I voted by absentee ballot at the consulate and no, my political beliefs haven't changed at all.
