Yes, there are quite a few vegetarian places. The best one I know of is called "Godly" on Nanjing Xi lu.

It has tons of different "fake meat" dishes and of course vegetables and tofu.

As for vegan, I'm not sure of any but I was told that there is one in or near the Bailian department store (Near Metro Line 10--Jiangwan Stadium). Haven't checked it out, but it's supposed to actually have the word "vegan" in the name... Happy Land Vegan or something like that

You can check on this website: www.happycow,net and set the location in Shanghai.

As a vegetarian, I recommend Annamaya on Taojiang Lu and Zao Zi Shu on Song Shan Lu.

Enjoy your days in Shanghai Smile

i already tried 2 in shanghai (my sister came to visit and she´s a vegie).
one i don´t really remember were it is... heheh
the other one is on the way from people´s square to nanjing west road, on the left... a little after the ferrari shop, i think.
Maybe that´s the one which MrTibbles refers to... as they have lots of "fake meat" dishes.
in fact i got upset and confused, why they give meat names to ALL the dishes, but no one knows what´s inside.
Why the hell we want to eat vegetables tasting like duck, if we´re vegies and don´t want to eat duck?
how do they make it taste like duck? add duck sauce? hehehe
i like my vegetables plain and simple, tasting like vegetables...
the service is good and the prices are cheap. you should try, but don´t get frightened by the names.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
