Just think why it is difficult to obtain a visitor's visa to UK, or any other western country.  The answer is because immigration from those countries think most visitors will stay illegally if granted.  It is made worse in the case of a wife or girlfriend visiting, it is viewed as a greater chance of not returning to home country.

So, to be successful, you must prove without a doubt that she will not stay there, by having in China enough reasons for her to return, like a home, a bank account, a job, relatives(best a son or daughter that stays behind), etc.

The more reasons to justify her return, the more chances you may get the visitor's visa.

TedDBayer:

I tried, thought I made a good case, I wrote a nice letter explaing that we wanted to go to Canada for 2 months. I even put money in my GFs account (altho theywant to see it there for 10 months). I also offered to put my savings and home up as collateral that she would return. I sent the visa app to the wrong address so ended up taking it to the VAC center in GZ, good thing because I forgot to have some of her papers translated. There are Embassy 3 websites in China, plus Hong Kong and they all list conflicting details. I spent over 2500Y on the visa app. She didn't get a visa. They were not satified that she would return, so I put her in my suitcase. Yes, I was not kidding about doing this. Then the airline lost my bags.

A:Your potential employer is right! Demand for Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China, it would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after arrival to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
