Q: Anyone having problems accessing this site?

I used to be (until two days ago) be in the habit of accessing this site in work time when I wasn't teaching, obviously at work I don't have access to a VPN and I never had problems. Then two days ago my work desktop was replaced by a laptop (both property of the school and remain in situ), and since then I cannot post to this site. I can read your posts but cannot contribute, I just get the 'unable to verify user account' reply. Anyone else having this issue?

I am not having this particular problem but the site does load rather slowly.  Please expect all kinds of contortions on the Internet for at least another week or so.  Google, g-mail, Yahoo, the like.  After that time period, things should return to the status quo.

This site was unavailable on the mainland from Saturday morning until Sunday evening.  In keeping with local practice, no explanations were offered.  I do note, however, that the Forums on the China Daily actually posted a notice in English that they would be on "double check"mode until November 16 or thereabouts.

I never use a VPN in China.  I couldn't access this site at all on Saturday or Sunday.  I could get to the main eChinacities page, but when I tried to access the answers section, it would just give me some message about having technical difficulties, as if someone had disabled the forum software.  I'm not sure a VPN would have even helped...

Yeh, last couple of days, and it did surprise me because only a week ago 90210, or whatever that name is, warned someone to be careful about what they post, because this site could get blocked. He was told, 'not a chance mate' and then bam.

Not saying that's the reason but it couldn't help but cross my mind.

A:Your potential employer is right! Purpose of the Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after entry to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
