Try my idea, my Chinese wife and I bought a beach apartment in XiaChong, Huizhou, 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from Shenzhen, use highway S30. The size is 92 m2 for Y5200 per m2. It's near XiChong and Huiyang district as well, wonderful area, great to live and still can be close to Hong Kong and there's a train for 16 RMB ride from Shenzhen to Xiachong.

Oh I forgot to tell you some good news, The coast line highway that follows from Shenzhen to Huizhou will belong to Shenzhen soon. So better go get the best price while you can..

If you are in Shenzhen I can drive you there.

chenhan:

5200?The price is quite affordable, you are lucky to buy the house.I will consider Huizhou for sure. Thanks for the information!I will let you know if i decide to go.I won't forget that you would drive me there.indecision

I have lived in Changzhou for a couple of years and been to Wuxi.

Changzhou is a very industrial city and the people aren't very friendly to be honest. I wouldn't invest in that city. Lots of factories and the local dialect sounds horrible. I have VERY strong connections there. Good friends with the mayor's wife and few of the top doctors. They were nice people, but on the whole... Changzhou isn't too great.

Wuxi is a little better but not really a gem either. But they are close to Shanghai and Suzhou which are bursting. Personally, I consider a place like Qingyuan... which is very close to Guangzhou and Shenzhen (called the back yard of Guangzhou) with lower prices and isn't too big. Lots of Hong Kong businessman are going there to develop it and making good money.

It is a quickly growing small city in the South.

I live in Wuxi, what would you like to know? I like Wuxi, but I live far from downtown. Some areas (Binhu) are quite nice, other areas not so nice - like any bigger city. New Town is nice, like the rest of the city but with more foreigners and a Subway sandwich shop (woohooo!!) and many foreign companies.

I'd like to know the house price, environment, salary level, living cost, and whether people there are friendly or not

Heck, sorry I don't know for certain, but I think salaries here are not low.  Houses: Wanke is expensive as usual, but there are many less expensive alternatives.

I live in Suzhou, but I've been to Wuxi a couple of time. The two cities are pretty much similar, although I think Suzhou's urban development is quite good, compare to anything I've seen in China. Wuxi is a bit in-between Suzhou and Nanjing in term of urban development level.

I live in Suzhou which is an hours drive or 20 minutes by train from Wuxi. My company has a large Biologics Manufacturing facility that opened last year. I think it is a typical 2nd to 3rd tier city that is on the high speed rail line. It sits halfway between Shanghai and Nanjing. They allow gas power motor scooters and have an IKEA store. There are a few expat restaurants and bars. Always appears to be dirty every time I have been there.

Thanks ,Charlie!
