Q: Are Chinese people obsessed with astrology?

Went to this dinner party on weekend with group of chinese friends and they spent a whole hour discussing astrology shit, some even said they just date guys with particular star sign, and they all hate Virgo lol. Is this a new obsession for chinese people?

My mother in-law doesn't break wind without consulting a book on Chinese astrology. She once saw me sewing a hole in a mosquito net and complained to my wife that this was not a good astrological time for sewing and that I should have asked her first. Crazy as a shit-house rat.

From what I see they seem to be obsessed. They seem to try and fake the wisdom of a wise old scholar from ancient China.

It doesn't seem to be the main governing factor around me. But people sure are good at believing in crap based on superstition.

In my experience, not so much actually. Can't remember the last time anyone asked for my sign.

Has anyone ever asked your blood type?

When I even try to explain that predicting someones personality from there blood type was made up by some wacko racist Japanese pseudo scientist, they still don't accept it.

Lots of stupid people always lie any pretend to be AB as well, so there 'special, unique and mysterious'....Parf!

So it looks as it seems they use it as the basis to either employ you or not. Imagine having all the skills and degrees for a job, all the experience and they ask you: are you Virgo? Sorry, we cannot employ you because it does line up with our moons and stars. What a country!

Never ever experienced such in my 5 years here in China.

Chinese astrology - of course. Lots of people will talk about being year of the XX. however, I've never had any "in-depth" discussions about it, and no-one has ever suggested making any serious decisions based on it!
