Q: Are there any festivals for foreigners in China?

I remember in Korea they had the mud festival...the canadian teacher I was working with told me about it. She claimed that a lot of foreigners would be there and that many people knew about it. So are there any festivals in China for foreigners?

If there aren't enough already, I suggest you create your own. Maybe not a full blown festival but something that gets the expats together. When I was in Harbin (5 years) I created a simple Trivia night (yes, I know thats not a festival)...the thing is, something so simple is still going on today and I now live in Daqing. The reason for the success of it is consistency of it's approach and people. The numbers vary but it is known as the place to be on Thursday nights. The funny thing is that the locals know of it and go to "have a look at so many foreigners in one place". I have been to a Quiz Nite in Beijing as well so I know these types of events happen all over the country. Are they festivals?, probably not, but they sure help balance our experiences here. Keep 'em going I say!!!

Locally we have also bget together on Wednesday for lunch at a local pizza joint.  Maybe between 25 to 40 laowais eating pizza and shooting the breeze.  great way to keep in touch, make sure everyone is not sick.

It started maybe 1-1/2 years ago, and it is established now.  And a few LOCALS are already group members too.  Most Ex-Pats are now bringing their wives, G/F or whatever into the gathering, and quite a cohesive group has developed.

We, as a group, have gone on a few short trips to visit nearby areas. it has been a lot of fun.  Longest was a three day trip to raft down a river in Guilin.
