Umm...  Guangzhou has a goat statue that is pretty famous.  Other than that....  Nope.  Nothing.

Close from Shanghai, you can give Suzhou a go. It's 30 minutes from Shanghai by train. Walk around Jinli Lake in a sunny afternoon/evening (it's enough to be busy for several hours), enjoy the old town and the old gardens. Many areas are pretty neat. You can spend 2 or 3 days like that.

Yunnan Province - allow time for traveling to Xianggelila, Lijiang, Dali, Xishuangbanna and perhaps Shilin (though Kunming's a bit dodgy these days).

I want to see Zhangjiajie National forest park, it was the model for the movie Avatar.

Guilin is a nice city, see the Princes City, a smaller version of Forbidden City (sort of). You can take a river tour down the Li river from there, but do it on a powered bamboo raft. I think the real price is 200. Yantze river has tours, but I think they cost more. After the Li River you can see Yanghou, a touriist town. There is the impressionist Sanji Lui show on a lake there, supposed to be the biggest production in the world. You can take day trips from Yangshou, rent a motorscooter or bicycle and see rural China. If you are alone I recommend hiring a guide. Dont bother seeing Shangra La, a modern tourist trap, Most parks, caves etc charge admission, I'd skip them.

Hmmm...

Hangzhou, Suzhou, Guilin - for natural beauty

Sanya, Xiamen - for beaches

Hong Kong, Macau - for entertainment (sort of like Shanghai but more fun)

Xian, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Nanjing - for historical purposes

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
