Q: Best thing to buy in China

What is the best thing, service, etc. to buy in China that you would avoid buying at home?

Top level service at the local massage joint.  I've never even considered going for a massage in the US.

Xpat.John:

I have a pocket full of VIP cards that various vendors and officials have given me over the years.  If you ever have the chance to go for the 'emperors package' at a high end massage place, go for it.  It is worth every single jiao.

There are a great many things I buy only here because I know the manufacturers personally and have assurance of their high standards and durability. But the same things I wouldn't touch with a barge-pole back home, they're all made in China.

  I'm sorrry. I'm Ruuude. I'm sorrry.

To answer your question seriously, i'd have to say musical instruments. Not all musical instruments, no, no, no, no, NO. You can get some very high quality musical instruments here at extraordinarily good prices. But you can also get some crap. If you know how to look however, you can save a great deal of money.

M,

"But..................made in China." There's nothing for you to apologize about. You're speaking TRUTH! Good on ya! ^^

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
