In China, grammar ducation, by Law, is free for all. Then middle school requires a yearly payment, and a "donation" up front to get admitted to the school of your choice. High School is the same. Depending on how good and reputable is the school you choose, the more the donation and yearly payment. In my city, the best high school requires up to 50,000 Rmb donation, and a yearly fee of 10,000 Rmb. Books and uniforms are on you.
In my mind, the biggest problem will not be getting admited, but it will be understanding Chinese to be able to learn and pass examinations.
There are many online options ....some might require you to sit some exams back home and all cost real money not rmb..
Yeah, I remember reading about some 40something year old from Chengdu last year who completed the gaokao.
