I want to start making the most of my weekends by escaping the smoggy city more and recuperating somewhere with less people and more nature. I've been to almost every section of the Great Wall already so if anyone has any other ideas please let me know. I would go on a Saturday morning and come back on Sun evening. Day trips are ok too.

I flew out to Singapore and stayed like one night there then flew back. The ticket price was rather cheap. And since it was my first time there and because I had lots of fun I would consider doing it again.
They have the world's largest Ferris wheel. Really Cool! Also, if you go there take the duck tour it's quite fun!
In the summer time, the grass plains of Inner Mogolia.
Take a short flight to Hohhot then travel from there. You can stay in a yurt, take in a bit of horse riding if that's your thing or just savour the nature.
xiamen - gulangyu island
the water city hangzhou
or maybe guilin
I went to one of those small villages outside of Huairou (north of Beijing a few hours) that runs along the mutianyu part of the great wall. It was pretty nice. Went climbing on the "off limits" part of the wall. There were not a lot of tourists there, which made it much nicer.
I'm as sick of the wall as you are, but I still think this was a nice diversion. On the way back into town, we stopped at a random family's home/restaurant and had what what was one of the best Chinese meals I've had in China yet. I think there are some places to go rock climbing around there as well.
You could go to the Summer Palace in Chengde. Apparently it only takes about 2 hours by bus. Other options include the Longqing Gorge, Miyun Reservoir etc. I also heard you can go rock climbing in an area called Baihe Natural Rock Climbing Cliff near Miyun. You can google /baidu it for more info: 白河自然岩壁攀岩. Ive also been hearing a lot about a place called Crab Island not far from Beijing or Beidaihe. There are plenty of options!
I had been in Qing Dao it's really an amazing place to spend one or two days, the place is quite, nice, Reasonable prices, and it's overlooking to the yellow sea so you can enjoy your sunbath on summer there and the under water city, the golden beach and the silver beach and don't forget about the sea skiff and dinghy
alson san ya it's one of the most greatest islands in china and over the world
