can i get a 60 day tourist visa or is it restricted to 30 days only? I went in January and i noticed in my passport it says " duration of each stay 60 days after entry". Also if i can get one for 60 days is that anything i need to write down on the application for that?

I am pretty sure that the normal 1 entry visa is for 60 days and that is what you are given reguardless of how long you state you are staying. In Australia when you apply for a tourist visa you have the choice of 3. Single entry 60days, double entry within 12 months 60days each or a 12 month multiple entry with each stay a max of 60 days.
My last tourist visa was for one year, multiple entry, with 90 days limit on each stay.
Wow 90 days ? That's awesome ! Did you actually apply asking for that or did they give it to you? I heard you have to explain why you want 90 days or something like that
DaBen:
I applied for the 90 days, but didn't provide any certain reason. Though this was after my first two years living here and before I returned this time to work here again (so my passport as a variety of Chinese visa).
That depends on countries. For me it is 30 days only. after 30 days u can apply for extension in china (2 times), after 90 days u need to leave the country tho.
Why get a 60 day visa? Get a 90 day Visa!
You have to go to the right agency! If an agency is only offering you 30 days or 60 days then I would suggest you find another agency to work with.
one of my friends just got a 180 day tourist visa...if you apply in your home country and write a letter explaining why you need such a long visa, you can get up to 6 months...the trick is writing the letter. If they see you have been in and out of China a lot, it should not be a big problem.
Canada, first L Visa, was 30 days, still haven't got any clear answers on what I can get, 30 days was what the visa said.
For those already in China and for those who need L or F visa with longer stay durations in China, I can easily recommend Forever Bright Trading Company in Hong Kong. Visas with longer stays are available through them with the exception (very unfortunately) of citizens of the United States and France (tit-for-tat reciprocity I think). They are the best and the most knowledgeable in the visa business in Hong Kong.
A search or google or on yahoo will turn up their website. And yes, if you write them by email, they will actually answer (and no, I don't work for them in any way, shape or form).
