I've been to SZ twice in two years and will return again soon. I recently obtained a Teaching Business English Certificate that i want to parlay into some RMB's on my next trip, but i onlly wish to teach private classes at factories, or maybe help with translations of Chinese websites. Do I HAVE to get a different VISA for this work... or will my F Business VISA (legally) be enough? Thanks!

The different visas to enter China are for very especific areas, and depending on what the purpose of your visit will be will determine the type of visa you get.
A Business Visa, called the "F" visa, by definition, is issued to a foreign citizen who is invited to China for a visit, research, lecture, business, exchanges in the fields of science, technology or culture, advanced study, or internship for a period of no more than 6 months. As you can see, it does not cover any type of work done with or without monetary compensation.
If you are considering private tutoring of English (for free or for a fee), you will definitively need a work visa, called "Z" if you wish to be TOTALLY LEGAL. After arriving in China with "Z" visa, you will have 30 days to go to PSB and related offices and get your FEC, your work permit and your residence permit. After you have those, then you can legally work in China.
Now, in order to get a work visa you need a contract or a letter from your employer, and he must be approved to hire foreigners. So, you may face a road block there. One way around will be to enter China on an F visa, seek employment, and once you have all the documents required, go from Shenzhen to Hong Kong and get a work visa there, or try to change at PSB in Shenzhen if possible.
Wrong time to even try. If you would consider doing something like that, you'd better wait until 2013.
Good luck don't get caught now to much bullshit going round checking everyone
sure no problem as long as you hace around 50000 rmb on you when u get caught
under the present circumstances, absolutely not but then again its caveat emptor
NO, Yang Rui will come find you and clean you out of China!
Is it legal? no.
Have all the teachers that I have met taught illegally at one time? Yes, but usually for a short period until they get proper documentation. Also many people who come to teach just for a short time teach on tourist visas.
In my opinion, the chances of getting caught are slim, but you will kick yourself if you get caught.
