Q: Can the pirate version on Windows 8 get all the proper updates?

If I get it can I update to Windows 8.1?  will all programs work ok?  Will I get a virus?

if you have a legal copy with updates, the microsoft essentials will take care of all the virus problems.

but most copies not authenticated will not update, but sooner or later china will crack the code and go around the update block. just a matter of time.the hours they spend cracking the code could be used for writing their own software, but that would be smart and they only want to be clever.

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
