Q: can you exit country on same day visa expires

 Take for example:

If your visa expires on a Sunday can you exit the country on that Sunday?

Say your  visa says you are to exit the country on the 10th can you go across the border on the 10th?

( before 12 midnight of course)

Or does it have to be the day before?

Thanks,

No, you don't need to exit China day before visa expiration! It can be anytime till the expiration date (included).

You are in violation of the Law, if you exit China at 00.10 am on 11th.

You must count in 'traffic delays' or other unpredicted events, when you are planning your exit.

Last year Tianjin School's manager returned with my passport, and plane ticket Tianjin - Shenzhen on visa's expiration day. Tianjin PSB denied HK Z pick-up, and I had to exit China.

Plane in Tianjin should leave at 2 pm, what would give me plenty time to exit before 10 pm at Louhu crossing, butt...plane took off around 8 pm instead 2 pm. I arrived to Luohu at 1 am next day, and had to wait till morning crossing opening.

I exited China one day after my F visa expired. At the exit, I had talk in separate room with police woman, and she seriously warned me: 'Don't do it second time!'

I would say in general yes, you can exit China on the day your visa expires prior to midnight.  But I also must say that it will depend on the visa you have too.  Take for example an "L" tourist visa.  With it, if you have an entry still available, you can enter China on the day the visa expires, and stay the number of days legally that the visa allows, eventhough the visa is no longer valid.  I have done this a few times without any problems.
