Q: Do the Chinese lack for any popularly held religious beliefs?
I know Buddhism has an influence on Chinese culture and Christianity has a small footing here too, but otherwise, to my knowledge, the Chinese for the most part are an atheist people. I like to believe that Taoism, though not a religion in the traditional sense as it is without a deity, also has an influence on the Chinese, but beyond that I am unaware of any strongly held religious beliefs here in the PRC.
So is this a positive or a negative thing? Are the Chinese wanting for a God to keep them in check, or are they better off without?
Some are Buddists. some are Christians. I understand the messages of brotherly love, good will etc, but can not believe that some mighty entity controls all. After all he hasn't called anyone in over 2000 years.

I hate Facebook, too difficult to post pics, too time comsuming. I will never find God. Oh wait, he just came to my door. He looks like a hippie wearing a bath robe and smokes....Na, it was a camper from up the road, complaining about my dog barking. I'll tune my hotrod later for his enjoyment, maybe cut the lawn after midnight. I do have the right to practice religion in my own way.
Most Chinese are atheists.Generally speaking ,it is good for the country,as it wouldn't have much conflicts caused by people with different religions.For a country with a population so large,this is quite important.But it also has bad effects,people lack morals in business and social life,and they don't do enough to help the others.
Islam has a major influence in the western provinces such as Hui, Uyghur, and a few smaller ethnic groups who follow Islam.
Buddhism/Confucius is embedded into the culture even though they say they don't believe in it you take a Chinese person to a temple they seem to know all the rituals pretty well.
Christianity has a small following hear.
But I find the Han Chinese will be lacking religious beliefs and straight out say they are Atheists but the minorities here I find have a strong belief of religion.
Xinjiang and Gansu are full of Muslims...................they are the most recognized religious group in china for being in china with a staying status and recognization.........i went to many places in china and i always see these Xinjiang and Muslim people running restaurants and BBQ places with the feel of no pork and Muslim writings and customs......so i think Muslims are the biggest religious group existing in china

you are right as a muslim i know about the muslims in china and the muslims are far more in number than any other religious group in china
