Q: Do new high rise buildings have smoke detectors and sprinkler systems installed?

Is it compulsory for new high rise buildings to have these safety systems? If not do many of the modern residential towers have them? Are there checks made by local officials to insure they are in working order if they are in Hotels etc?

I think it depends where you are.as the rules seam to differ from place to place or at least the inforcement of them
The newer buildings in my wifes city do have them and they also have a new invention called the elevator.
As for them working I have never heard or seen of them being tested or inspected.
I would buy a smoke detecter and put it up myself and buy near the ground floor or above a mattress shop.
