Q: Do the Supercenter Walmarts in China have a MoneyCenter?

As far as I can remember, all Supercenter Walmarts in the states have a MoneyCenter. Do the ones in China have one as well?

Yes, buTT.... nobody speaks English in Chinese WM. They display Bank of China ATM cards with Visa/Mc logo in their 'Money Centers'.

I prefer same card from Chinese Bank (and English speaking personnel).

WanderingTeacher:

Thank you ICNIF77 for actually being helpful. This is what I needed to know. I wasn't sure if they still offered the same services or not, being that they are an international branch. Thank you again, I really appreciate it. :-)

Word 'international' in China doesn't mean same as in rest of the World. Here, 'international' is confined to the outside borders of China. Especially 'banking'. I have CMB ATM card with Visa logo. I can use it anywhere in the World (cash & shopping). I can also buy online, buTT....only if website is Chinese. Can't do 'booking of Hotel in London', Bank's reply is 'not enough funds'. Last week, I applied for CMB Credit Card. If granted, I'll be able to use it/pay online on any website.

Dude, I get that you want to be prepared. But are you going to map out every possible aspect of your life BEFORE you ever step foot in China?

Theres something to be said for a little spontaneousness or adventure!  Just stop worrying and come and figure shit out.

just to add to this.

@Scan: 'I hate, when Chinese don't respect queue, while waiting to scale my 'fruit and veggies'.

In Chinese WM, I keep repeat phrase: 'Am I invisible?'angry

And, when I'm finally in 'pay queue', person behind me keep pushing the trolley into my back. Me with 'invisible coat', again. Why do they do that?

haha I have that happen always. Theres always a shopping cart in my back.  I have 3 possibilities.

1 Chinese arent very good at hand eye coordination.  Have you ever thrown a ball to a chinese kid?  wow! Try it, its hilarious.

2. They actually think that by squeazing every last inch out of the space between you that they can actually go faster.  The very basic rules of time and space are far far far too difficult to comprehend.  Chinese live in their own Matrix.

3.  They drive cars and they are worried that if there is even an inch between their shopping cart and your back that another cart will cut them off and go in line infront of them.

Usually a hard stare and a very dramatic push of their cart will do the trick.

'meiyou stare'! I talk! I'm pissed, and I can't convince myself, that's an 'usual' part of grocery shopping.

I'd rather go elsewhere, than in 'cart pushing' BallMart. Your explanation no.2 is very plausible.

"Dude," how about instead of assuming I'm attempting to map out my life in China, you think for a second, maybe there is a good reason behind me asking this question that has nothing to do with me not wanting being spontaneous, and everything to do with the fact that I need to know what I'm going to do with my money. You don't see me asking where's a good place to do my laundry on the weekend, or the cheapest massage parlor, or the best place to buy American brand deodorants, or how to handle loud neighbors. No, I'm not asking those questions because those are the type of things that is best left up to spontaneity and adventure. Money, however, is not. Since you insist on making assumptions instead of just simply answering my question, let me explain to you why this question was asked: I happen to have an American Express Walmart card, that just so happens allows me to load cash onto it in any currency, for free, at any Walmart MoneyCenter. So instead of me trying to figure out how I'm going to take my money back home via bank transfers, rolling the cash and hiding in my suitcase, etc., all I have to do is mosey my little ass to the Walmart that I just happened to stumbled upon by accident, that also just so happens to be down the street from the school I will be working at, and just put my money on the card, and call it a day. But, oh wait, I thought I should check with my helpful pals on eChinacities to see if these Walmarts actually have a MoneyCenter, because I don't want to just assume that they do and be "spontaneous" with figuring out how I'm going to get my hard earned money out of this foreign country. No, definitely not, that would actually be a very stupid thing to do. Why would anyone want to do that? Thanks for being so helpful and for your nugget of wisdom on being "adventurous" with my financial planning.....

Well "Dude" perhaps you should mosey on back to your history and take a look at the millions of questions youve asked before even coming here.  They are exactly the random questions your refering to. Get an ayi? Dog in China?   How about this city? How about this city?  You didnt mention any of that in your question, it was another random question from you...about a walmart. Which happens to be the second or 3rd question from you about moving money back from the states. You specifically mentioned the 273,000 if you forgot.  I dont know if your proud you have money. Or your gullible and think your gonna make and save all that down to the exact number. But either way ya look like a douche.  To answer your question, no ,walmarts do not have the money centers like that. There is no simple way to take your money out of China.  If you are bringing that money into china, do not do it. Leave it where you are and make sure you have access to it. China doesnt mind money coming in, but really doesnt like money going out which is why there is no easy way.  The simplest way, is to use Western Union, the fees arent much, you might take a hit on exchange and youll need someone you trust to pick it up for you back home, but hey your rich, what do you care?

I believe, WM in different Provinces 'bank' different. I never tried, but Chinese 'same name' Banks operate different from Province to Province.

I wouldn't think, WM in China (over) support their customers/members in transferring money out of China.
