Chinese aren't looking for the fresh grads from western Unis, I read ...
I'll say, it's a personal experience, but Chinese are looking for the experienced laowai workers.
Have a look at requirements for Z (Working) visa and you'll see one of the demands is 2-years of working experience.

2-years of previous working experience was removed from Z visa requirements, but it use to be there, maybe a year or less, ago.
Also the age of applicants is '18 - 60', so you should try and apply.
