I've been here since last summer/fall, and I feel like I've already accumulated a ton of stuff. Clothes, trinkets, housing stuff, moped etc. At this point, I'm still planning on being here for a while, but when that day comes that I do move home, I'm worried how I'm going to get everything home. Do you own a lot of stuff here, or do you try to live pretty minimally?
I bought a lot of clothes here that's for sure. Other than that probably too many extra pairs of shoes...like you I too have a lot of things!
More and more stuff every year. Fortunately i've stopped moving around. Think i've moved about 12 times so far, for long or short periods. Each time the bags get bigger and bigger; though that's probably just a hernia from all the lifting.
Very little. A coffee mug, a dog and a computer. Then of course the wife has enough stuff to fill a shipping container.
I'm trying so hard not to accumulate things. So far a futon, coat rack, and television. All good buys and all things that can be left with my mother-in-law upon fleeing.
I bought what ever I needed, won't say I owned a lot. I gave it all to my girl friend and except for her clothes, it was more than what she owned.
Yeah, way too much. Just piles and piles of stuff. I think I'm turning into a hoarder.

I have 6, I had 16 before but that was a hobby, actually got to claim it on income tax,,hobby farming

Get a dog, so much better around children than a cat. If you get one that will be sufficiently small when grown up you can also pretty easily bring it on flights (paperwork involved though)
How easy is it to sell stuff off when you move here? Is there a Chinese version of Craig's List?
Scandinavian:
Buying second hand is a face loosing event in China, so you can only sell your stuff to those who cannot afford new stuff. This has a negative impact on price.

It's true that second hand loses face so don't tell anyone.
There are two craigslist style websites here. Ganji.com and 58.com
I buy so much stuff. Hell, it's fun. Now and then I give a few bags or boxes full of things away. I may be neurotic, but I'm not hurting anyone.
