Q: Do you think Chinese abroad are more respectful of host country than expats here?

Or do you think expats here are more respectful of China than the millions of Chinese in various countries abroad?

Generally, in public, yes. You don't see Little Americas or Little Britains in all the major cities.

I mean expats in China, just to clarify.

I think expats here are more respectful of China than the Chinese that live here. The Chinese abroad seem to keep to themselves or with Chinese people. They don't do much of anything. Then there is the other type, a student perhaps , that just vanishes and no one ever sees him again.

Ted is correct.  Most Chinese abroad live in closed communities, and their daily lives are just like they still were in China.  No real effort is made to integrate into their new country of residence, learn local customs, marry local persons.  Is that is really being "respectful" of the host country ?.  They do export Chinese way of life abroad, so you will see soon illegal gambling, massage parlors, opium smoke dens, etc in place.  Extortion and bribes to be allowed to do business soon pop up, gangs and other related activities surface within the community.

And while I do say a lot that there are always a couple of rotten apples in every barrel, I do feel that most foreigners in China do respect Chinese way of life a lot more than Chinese nationals living abroad.

I won't put up with it myself. I have no qualms with telling them off.

I question the fact that Chinese people are respectful of their own country. I don't need to site many examples of disrespectful behavior here as we have all seen them. Spitting, peeing, sh*tting.....you get the idea.

A:Your potential employer is right! Purpose of the Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after entry to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
