Q: Do you think they can make a chinese version of Honey Boo Boo?

The little bossy type that you can't understand when he/she opens it's mouth.

NOPE!

China has strict regulationsabout what can be shown on TV. Anything that portrays even one Chinese person in a "bad light" is usually axed.

Great example: In the US, half the fun of watching American Idol is the initial weirdos going to the tryouts. People making fools of themselves or have no talent...  It's funny.

The Chinese version, if you've ever seen it, only shows the extremely talented people.

Now, it's OK to show American Idol on Chinese TV, uncut - as it shows Americans "in a bad light" which is fine. Just can't do that with Chinese.

So, no, there won't be Fengmi Bao Bao.

mArtiAn:

As far as i'm concerned that's a score for China, I absolutely detest American Idol, Pop Idol, Britain's Got Talent and all those shows that put people on the stage for the sole purpose of humiliating them. Some of those people have clearly been chosen because they suck. It's the Victorian freakshow all over again, parading bearded ladies to be laughed at and mocked; it appeals to the basest impulses of the human spirit.
