So some of my students in Guangzhou the other day were trying to tell me that in southern China putting your hand over your heart when you say something means that you're being insincere (because you're "covering" your true meaning in your heart). Really?? About half the students disagreed which means it might be a regional thing. Anyway has anyone ever gotten into trouble by trying to be sincere and putting your hand over your heart but were taken for having the exact opposite meaning?
Never happened and never seen that. THe only thing I know hand over heart is when you really like something or it's patriotic!
No you hear wrong. hand over my heart is I'm dying, is heart attack.
