Q: Has anyone applied to a Schengen visa in China?( foreigners)

I'm going to apply for a Shengen visa soon in Swedish embassy. The nearest embassy is in Beijing, I'm little bit scared of stying 15 days without a passport.  Will the embassy give me any valid paper which would let me buy train tickets or stay in the hotel?  And do they take applications from Non-Chinese citizens? Please share your experience with me.

Hi, this is a very specific question, you should ask them directly.

I think any receipt they might give you have little chances to enable you to buy tickets or stay in hotels.

Dear Grizzly,

RiriRiri's comment is absolutely correct and in case you do not find your way through with Swedish embassy pls keep in mind that valid Schengen visa you may get from any of the Schengen country.

As the countries are maintaining their own policies so they may differ quite a lot and some countries may have less demanding requirements.

In any way any of the Schengen state visa entitles you to go to any of the Schengen state.

You can Yahoo-gle 'Schengen visa requirements', and you'll get few web links as 'visa application form', 'agencies (who can get you Sch. visa)', 'requirement&exemptions' and similar, before you're heading for Riri's link (Swedish Embassy).

There's is only one Schengen visa application form, what tells me rules to enter any country in Schengen are the same, in other words, you can apply for entry visa at any Embassy of Schengen in China.

Rules to enter Schengen don't differ from country to country. They are all the same, doesn't matter where you apply/enter. Similar as entry rules for USA don't differ, if you enter in Florida or NY.

Thanks a lot, but I've already had more than 6  half-year Shengen visas, but all of them were issued at home.  According to the EU (Shengen) policy you should stay in a country issued you visa more time than in other countries.

And of course I'll call to the embassy. But it's much better to ask someone who already did it.

By the way any nearest Shengen embassy is in Beijing. So anyway I'll be without passport for at least 2 weeks

icnif77:

It doesn't look 2 weeks is timing for processing Sch. visa on the 2nd web link. Click 'Passport requirements......', and read FAQ on the bottom. I can't c&p for some reason, but 'only in special circumstances, it may take up to 2 weeks to process visa.'

As I understand, it's much faster if you have your passport.

My fiancee applied for Schengen visa in October from China. It was at a non-busy consulate, it took less than one day for her to get it even though they said it would take 15. The problem is, with visas it is often difficult to say since each case is different. Deffo contact them, I've found the embassies and consulates in China generally very friendly and helpful.

Grizzly:

Is she Cinese  or not? I'm scared that my case can take longer time. I'm willing to apply for 90 days.

yeah, in beijing, at parkview green mall. i forgot the chinese name. 芳草地 i think. you need to make an online appointment first before you go there, then you can choose which timeslot you would like for your 'interview', they will require some documents too, like bank statements, plane tickets(with the return ticket),etc. and prepare some money too(they accept credit card though)

Hi Grizzly,

Usually you must apply at the embassy of the country which you are going to visit first or where you are going to stay more.

Each country embassy has almost the same requirements with a little or no changes.

You can find some good information at these links:

http://www.schengenvisainfo.com/schengen-visa-application-requirements/

http://www.mawista.com/blog/en/schengen-visa-information/

Good Luck with your Visa Interview!

Best Regards

Alejtin

I need help with this too! Thanks icnif77 for sharing those information.  BTW, if anyone needs to fill out a “Schengen Visa Application Form”, I found a blank form here: http://pdf.ac/6LC06

Hotwater:

Some advice for you. Only use the Scenghen form downloaded from the place you are going to apply.

Many wife recently got a Schenghen visa from the Italian consulate in Guangzhou. I downloaded the visa form from the Italian embassy website, all in English. VFS Global do the visa processing in Guangzhou. When my wife went to apply they told her it was the wrong form and made her fill in a new one which they use which is written in English, Chinese & Italian! Such a bunch of pedantic bastards!

I agree, Hot! Best is to download Visa form from any EU Embassy website.

Chinese Embassy in EU (in return) require 'download and fill in online' visa form. PIA, if you make a mistake, and you're rejected by official at Chinese Embassy. No pen corrections allowed on the visa form.

Have returned back from Beijing.

Had problems with insurance. mine wasn't correct one. Bought new one next to  Italian visa center. 90 days 750 rmb...

I bough 2 way tickets in advance, didn't stay overnight in Beijing. Took Foreign Expert Certificate as an ID. At visa center they have courier service. don't remember the cost, paid for everything about 450 rmb.

On the way back didn't have any problems at train station. They even didn't ask.

ANd those elevators... you can't easily get up, cause only the receptionist who sits downstairs has the lift card)) If it's lunch time you can wait... or use service lift or stairs (on the right  from reception).

Grizzly:

by the way, they attached the receipt to the copy of my passport and put a big blue stamp on it

the one was pingnan.com (or sth like that) was valid only in China.

another one don't remember the name ( accidently threw it away). A4 printed page, in Chinese and English. Was printed name, date of birth, country you are going to ( or applying for a visa)  and a big round blue seal at the left bottom corner.  750 rmb for 90 days.
