Is Manila a good place to visit? Does anyone recomend to go or not to go?

I've been many times to the Republic of the Philippines. Yes, there are a few things to see in/around the capital city. Now, I am assuming you are a little bit interested in the history of the place? If so, then along with everybody else, you must visit the Old City - Intramuros. National Flag and Rizal Monument in Rizal Park. Walk the Bay Front and see the famous sunset over Manila Bay. If you are into WWII then you must see Corregidor.
Watch yourself at all times. Extreme poverty breeds extreme behavior.
Keep hydrated (bottled water). Bring USD if possible. Most ATM's accept UnionPay cards but will charge a fee for usage. Keep $100 spare for emergencies. Keep money to pay Airport Fee when you fly out. USD is the preferred money in Phil. Know the exchange rate. Watch your money. Be careful. Have fun!
Stay in Malate. (not Makati).

What is wrong with Makati?
If anything i would not go to greater Manila anyway..
Cebu..Lapu Lapu
or Pawalan Island...
what's so great about this big city of Manila ?

I agree, Manila is just a transit spot to get to other places in Phil. But, it doesn't hurt to see it once, spend a few days seeing the historical parts...
Malate is more old-fashioned than Makati, more authentic feel for me. Also walking distance to the Bay, and easy to get to Rizal Park too....
Oh no..... never will I go there, don't want to go there, don't have any desires to go there! And this isn't even China related so there you go with your bad self. Go on with your bad self trwhack breaking the rules already!

After meeting you, I've decided I am in favor of abortion in cases of incest.

This is an expat asking a travel question, much more interesting than the price of buying bigger quanities, Cheese lesbians, your portable toilet invention, or anything you post, which often aren't China related and are just mindless questions, Then you try to make witty comments and can't because you're so dumb you must be an experiment in Artificial Stupidity

You cannot get VISA?
You don't need visa up to 21 days.. passport is enough
longer visa is a child play can be renewed easy.
working there that is another story.
Been there a few times but not for a while. Manila is horrible in my opinion but if you can find any out of the way family based beach resorts it is a very nice place. Boracy used to be like that but has gone upmarket but if you do your research there are many more islands with grass roots resorts. Not so safe though with the grinding poverty of much of the population causing people to do crazy things just to survive.
Been but much prefer Thailand.........

Both places are good..each one has something special to offer.
The whole Philippines is great.. except Mindanao.. and Manila.
the only good thing about this region is fruits and the fish (Gen Santos) but who will shop for the fish in Gen Santos LOL
Not the safest place to be. the whole region

Warning..just watch out for Filipino girls, kinda different then Chinese.
Most of them so called "defectors"
this place has never impressed me in particular after the hostage tragedy happened. some hong kong tourists were killed.....
@gregoryneal1
You mentioned twice in your posts about Risal Park..
The thing is that 99% of westerners have not a clue who he was and as soon they leave Philippines they will forget about him in nano second.
I made this video just for you...took me 15 minutes
(the tune took longer. made previously on FL) upload 3 hours..
Enjoy..my favored fruit courtesy of Jose R.

Narito kang pumunta :)
I was living and working in Makati...
but i agree, malls, offices and nothing else
If you like diving/snorkelling, then the southern Philippines has some of the best in the world. Places like Bohol and Cebu are pretty good resort islands with great activities. Palawan island in the west has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country by far. Philippines is by no mean as wild as Thailand but, after living in China for quite some time, it's nice to head over, eat some fresh food and see some smiling people again.
Well......after China, going to the Philippines and seeing how almost everyone there was sort of expecting to be tipped, was the biggest contrast I do remember.
Otherwise the island of Boracay is not as beautiful as per the tourist brochures.
Out of a score of 10, my vacations to the Philippines will only get a 5 !
Go to Palawan and Sagada... must admit not very safe to travel most specially in Manila. so just be careful!
I've been all the way down to Davao, Mindanao...dangerous? Give me a break...If you sit at at home and read what the internet says you'll never see what a place is like...
What do your friends back home say about China

A terrible way to die, who would think of carrying fucking vinegar with you for a swim.
Heartbreaking story. I see jellyfish everwhere when I go to the beaches in the Philippines. Not sure what kind they are, but I had no idea their stings can end up being fatal. Guess I'll pack a bottle of vinegar next time I go. Tweezers I got.
