Two weeks ago I bought a bag of what I thought was the best dog food in the world (Royal Canin) for my 3 year old gold retriever. The next day her stools were loose with blood and since it was a Sunday I could not get her to a vet until Monday and the vet said it appeared she was poisoned. The following day my dog died. I examined the bag of new food and compared it to the old bag and that's when I noticed the spelling mistakes. They have even copied dog food here. Someone suggested I take some of the food to a local lab for analysis but I found out that would cost me an arm and a leg and serve no purpose anyway. My dog is gone I urge all of you with pets to carefully read the package of pet food and if you find spelling mistakes don't buy it.
I am a pet owner and an animal lover. I really, really, really feel for you. Generally I try to purchase food for my cats from taobao only, using American brand name imports. When I fed the younger of the two locally made food, she just vomited and vomited. I am really, really pained by your post and share in your loss. Frankly, when the Good Lord takes me, I hope that my pets, current and previous, will be waiting for there.

Re: the food issue is the reason why I did not bring my buddy with me when I came to China. I just cannot take that chance!
The Chinese are responsible for probably millions of pets in the world dying in 2007. Apparently the Chinese will never learn. The world still has problems with Chinese ingredients, but on a smaller scale..

You can indeed get cat and dog from America through taobao. I could pay RMB 100 for a 10 kg bag of Chinese-made cat food and RMB 140 for a 10 kg bag of American cat food. The extra 40 RMB is well worth-it.
