Q: have you ever lost your passport here?

I have lost it for the second time and no matter how early I inform the police and the media about it, no results at all,

those who find them where do they take them to? can't they think of taking them to the PSB for the owner may need it?

I would advice everyone to work with the copies of your passports and keep the original home before you end up like me and the procedures to getting the new one are always long and hard.

and to what country does the passport belong?  You are very lucky if you are a foreign national that your consulate is so indulgent and I mean that sincerely .. two times ...  certain Western consulates are getting really strict with this these days ... and expecting any help from the PSB on a lost foreign passport ... my  God

you clearly are chinese, in case of a lost passport that is the very first place you go (psb). and  the respective consulates do work to replace lost/ stolen visas.

business visa, often used as a cover for  work visa, usually by those who do not have sufficient credentials to obtain a proper Z / residence permit ..

Ah right, yes I remember reading something about that, used as a bit of a loophole by some of the agents.

An illegal immigrant, terrorist, or other criminal could have used it to gain entry into a country.

OR someone could have used it to gain favour with President Obama by claiming to be a distant relative from Kenya.

OR It could be down the back of your sofa. Have you looked there?

P.S. What did you expect the media to do about it?

or it could have been clandestinely sold ... all things are possible

from what i heard, having a copy is no good. (unless you are in a foreigner friendly city) my advice to you is to take better care of your passport. . my passport goes in a small bag, in a inner compartment. and that bags stays attached to me as if it is my 3rd arm. i honestly can not imagine how anyone can lose their passport twice. be more responsible for your passport. this is china, over 27 people walked past a dieing 2 year old. do you really think they are going to lift a finger to return sth worth 10,00rmb on the street to you??? dude i read your posts you're smarter than that

sorrel:

I'm with Crimo on this. NO-ONE is allowed carry my bag which is like Fort Knox, my passport being in the most difficult part to get to. If I had to surrender my passport for any reason, I insisted that my school let me hold onto my FEC as a means of identification. They weren't to happy about that!

Sometimes I have heard stories of foreigners conveniently loosing passports when they have visa issues in China.  I have also heard stores of some of the same selling their passport for profit, a disgusting thing to hear, I must admit.  On another board, foreigners actually writing about the first instance rather openly, and it's there for all to read.

thedude:

This is the dictionary definition of "wu mao".

Deflect any and all criticism of China and tar and feather all foreigners with the same brush.

If you are going to do this job then at least don't make it obvious.

i don't see a personal attack here. if i were to say the dude is a factory worker, how is that a personal attack? a wumao is a job just like any other.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
