Q: Hey, Chinese people here, what makes for "good" writing in Chinese?
In English the clever use of phrasing while still being able to directly tell a story makes for good writing. As does the use of words you wouldn't normally use (But not the point where its out of place and silly).
So, in Chinese, with the LANGUAGE itself, what is considered clever and engaging?
So, if you're reading a book, what kind of writing would make you think "Wow, this is just so much fun to read these sentences"?

作文选材的三个原则
俗话说:读书破万卷,下笔如有神。佳作华章需要鲜活的材料来充实。材料的质量决定着作文的质量。在构思立意时,怎样才能从纷繁的生活素材中选择适合文题要求,能够表现主题的素材呢?以“我”为主作文选材最重要的一条就是写自己熟悉、有切身感受的人和事。因为熟悉,有切身感受,就容易写具体、表达出真情实感。有的考生写作文时动不动就古今中外,“话说天下大事”,虽然也有精彩文章,但多数内容由于自己不熟悉而把握不住。相反,从身边生活的细微处入手,从“我”写起,就能写出非常精彩的文章。考生最熟悉的是自己,如果多从自身出发,整理初中三年所写的作文、日记、随笔等,仔细挖掘,感悟生活、思考生活,一定会发现许多别人没有的“珍宝”。作文选材不可舍近求远,不妨以“我”为主,“我手写我心”,坦诚地敞开心扉,抒写真情实感。即使没有出现“我”或“结合自己”的作文题也完全可以写“我”,如作文题目“向前,向前,向前!”就可以写自己的经历,表现自己奋发进取、积极向上、勇往直前的意志和品质。重新轻旧选择材料时,还要注意“重新轻旧”。所谓“新”,就是指新人、新事、新情况、新观点、新认识等。“新”材料是文章有新意的基础。当然,不是过去的材料(本文共计1页
