During my last visit I stayed at the YMCA hotel in Wanchai. The rooms were a litle small, but it was decently priced and located near a fun part of town.

how much did you pay do you remember, this other place is coming up at about 170 -200 a night

Ah. My suggestion is nowhere near that price. Happy seems to have found a better deal though. :)
Hotels in general are expensive in Hong Kong, the closer to downtown, the higher they are.
I do stay at the Silvermine Beach Hotel in Lantau Island, and I do make reservations thru Agoda on Internet because it is discounted. Depending on dates, prices vary from $ 45 per night to $ 85 per night.
The Slvermine is not close to anything, but the ferry landing is two blocks away from the hotel, and I can get to any bother parts rather easily abd quick since I do know the way around.
Rooms are sort of nice and modern, good size ones, and buffet breakfast is included in price.
yes i heard its expensive the place i was checking on is a hostel not a hotel but you get single rooms, i was not to botherd about a nice room just somewhere to crash, but thank for the answers i check it out online.
What are you looking to spend a night? And where do you plan to spend most of your time?
I go to Hong Kong all the time and even just came back from there yesterday.
It will depend what kind of quality room you want and where you stay (area).
I average about $130 USD a night through Agoda staying in a nice 4 star hotel in Wanchai.
During the week you will get better pricing. Weekends are expensive.
Well the cheapest place really, dont really no hong kong just going there to get a visa so close would suit me better and close to night life. The hostel is cheap is 170-200 RMB but would spend up to 400 a night. Will be staying from Tuesday to Friday/Saturday.
yep, you are ready for the Mansions. Chung King and Mirador are right next to each other on Nathan Road, Kowloon. Book ahead if u can, why not? Just be careful when u book, can be a bit confusing, like they give price by the # of beds instead of just the whole room. Also make very certain u have an en'suite WC. Some are communal.
On second thought, if this is your firt time, maybe just show up and book in person. Just be careful not to go with anyone outside. They are just touts trying to get in your wallet.
If you want cheap, a small massage parlor. Pay for a back massage and if it's late enough that they aren't expecting more customers (so better chance at the non red light parlors). They will just leave you alone for the night. Pick the right place and your little room could even have its own shower.
Lots of cheap rooms at chung king mansions, its a bit of a rabbit warren, lots of touts. I normally go to Mongkok, just a few stops on tube, find rooms on hostelbookers.com , I usually try to stay at the dragon hostel, but there are plenty others, rooms small at around 200 - 250 HK dollars. busy area, beside the markets, etc, easy to get around from there to downtown Kowloon, or short tube ride to the island. Again, easy to turn up and find one hostel that has a room.
If youre going to Forever Bright Travel for visa...chunk king is closest and easiest, just 5-10 minutes walk to their office.
