Q: How can you become a qualified interpreter in Beijing?
I heard that there is a test you can study for and if you pass (which is very rare because it's so difficult) you are qualified to work as an interpreter. Anyone have any information on this?

I believe you may be referring to the CATTI (China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters). Here's their site: http://www.catti.cn/

You don't actually need it. If your Chinese is good enough and you have experience then you can get employed.
I work in translation and no one I know that works in interpreting has taken the test
