I've got extremely dry skin lately and just ran out of my fav moisturizer which I brought here from home. I refuse to buy any of those strange Chinese brand products so what do others do here to deal with dry skin? Where do you buy moisturizers here? Do humidifiers help?
Try Watson's for something like E45 - they stock it in some places. otherwise Walmart, Carrefour, Metro or Tesco. you should be able to find one that stocks a brand you know.
Redaria:
E45 is great for the hands. Can you put it on the face though too?
sorrel:
for some of the knife cold winds here i would occasionally prep my face with a small amount.
i am allergic to many lotions, so i have always just used grapeseed or olive oil. Works better than lotions, and healthier; but a pain to apply as you don't want to get it on your good clothes. Therefore, i usually apply it in the evening when i am at home a few hours before bed
consider doing nothing, you'll have dry skin for some days, but then your skin will adjust, once you put moisturizer on you are just funding the manufacturers of these. before the invention of moisturizers people still managed.
flywayway:
I agree. I do use some lotion if a certain area gets really bad, but in general I leave it be and let my body fight its own battles.
"It rubs the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again." Aloe vera or other hydrating lotions as opposed to oil-based lotions.

icnif77:
meiyou 'edit' .....I was thinking today about 'hijacking' AoD, again

My cat (pic), she could read my mind. She loved raw or cocked hot dog sausage, the most. I would 'THINK' in the morning 'it would be good to eat some hot dog' in the next few days. Like having 'dog munchies'.
I was just thinking about it. No 'buying it', 'bring it home', 'fridge it', 'cooking' or 'eating', yet. Not even talking about it. She would trace me everywhere I moved in the apartment. When I left (to buy hot-dog), she holded guard at the entrance door till my return.
On the regular (non-hot-dog-thinking) days, she would nap whole day. Almost like I am not there.
She knew somehow, I'll eat hot-dog.
Try Olive oil! Italian, Spanish or French brand. I tried very good (colour & taste) Californian olive oil from Napa few years ago. You should get the best quality (the most expensive), preferably in smaller bottles. You won't use 0.5 l bottle in a year, if you put some on your face every night before sleep.
You will see at first trial, your skin is different in the morning, after you wash your face. Softer, I would say.
I always remember about olive oil & face skin in the morning while shaving. Butt….then, it's too late.
Sinobear:
Yes, olive oil, a little vinaigrette, some cilantro and radichio...toss well. Your new green skin will certainly add to your 'alien' status.
icnif77:
I wasn't joking!
You can test olive oil on your hands, first. Same procedure, just 'hands', no 'face'. You can also put OO on ur forehead only. You'll see the difference (edit: bigger forehead. LOL)
1. Olive oil, only! Skip 'cilantro……& 'tossing'….
2. Spill a bit of olive oil on gauze, and apply to your face. Be careful around eyes. It's not pleasant to have OO in your eye(s).
3. You will have 'shinny' look after you're done.
4. In the morning, wash your face with warm water! You can also use soap, but 'it is not recommended'.
Redaria:
I sometimes rub a little olive oil into the tips of my hair. I think it's much better and way more natural than the chemical-loaded conditioners you get in supermarkets. I haven't tried it on the face but I'll give it a go. Thanks!
icnif77:
Scalp is also recommended area for OO, especially after 'heavy' use of shampoos and colouring. Don't listen to Sino!
Go to Sephora store and buy your moisturizer made in France
Nessquick:
I have get some parfumes and price are similar to czech prices.
try to get BUBCHEN brand, german creams, not easily available, but some places, with baby care may have them.
I find jojoba oil better than olive oil, and you smell less like a salad. it is thinner so smooths out better, and you don't feel oily for the rest of the day.
I would recommend mosturizing before bed. Pay particular focus to the elbows, for some reason they dry out really fast!!!
