Q: How do you Guys do it?

I take my hat off to you English Teachers

When I come here I usually do a lesson or two at my sister in-laws school to help with the marketing

just 20 kids in their teens and all I do is talk to them

Well last night I got coned into going to a friends upper middle school to talk to her class

20 kids is one thing but 53 is the biggest audience I've ever had

and you know how shy I get.

Well I tried to remember what they showed me in ESOL class (all 20 hours of it)

so I just did what I always do and Winged it.

all in all it was a great couple of hours and the kids were great.

Maybe it is because I'm the only foreigner they have ever had the chance to talk to.

some of the kids spoke really well considering they are taught by non native speakers.

I could not imagine doing it  every day

I like my informal chats with the small class every year

I get to see them grow and I get to corrupt them with our weekly Rugby League game

funny how Queensland always wins

I still think it makes a difference in this small city to where most of you Guys teach

and as I said I couldn't do what you do every day.

Think about something else pretend your somewhere fun and play some games and have fun with them. Try coming up with your own ideas and lessons......if you can't make it interesting for yourself they won't find what your doing interesting at all.

Honestly I don't know how I do it either, and that's why I'm glad I'm going home in 3 weeks.

"and you know how shy I get."...????

You weren't shy Friday night dancing topless on the table!!! Nor with that lapdance you did (the girls really loved it, btw!)

"funny how Queensland always wins" Hilarious!!! There's about 20 students from UTS studying at a local uni here... (and about 6 of us from Bris-vegas) all good fun!

Meh, I'd never 'teach' little kids.... late teens in uni are bad enough.

I'm waiting for Woody to comment on the state of origin hahahaha

I got to tell you that standing up in front of 50+ teenagers was like putting on a show

after 2hrs I was glad to take a bow and beat it as fast as my legs would carry me.

I will do it again next year just to do something good for once

That's why I'm glad I'm a union girl, not a league girl!!! Oh, hang on, wait, the 'tahs suck at the moment, also. Dammit. I'm going to go drown my sorrows...

Oh, and SB, as far as teaching kids goes.... the kids are fine it's their god damned parents and, even more, the Chinese co-teachers that are the problems. Adult ignorance is a zillion times worse to deal with than over-excited children.

Sorry MissA... I'll disagree with you... I can blithely ignore parents and teachers... noisy, screaming, running kids... something I just can't tolerate...
