Q: How many more people must die before China addresses mental health?

The recent killing of a foreigner and Chinese citizen in Beijing by somebody with a mental illness is just the most recent of a spate of murders by people who need help. From kindergarden stabbings and random attacks, it's clear that many people in China, like anywhere in the world, suffer from mental illnesses and need professional help. It just seems like the country is completely turning a blind eye and not doing enough to help these sick people. Many lives could be saved if they just finally addressed the issue!

I agree and I know exactly where that place is. I was actually thinking about going there to get my dinner the day it happened...Luckily for me I didn't and didn't have to cross that guys path.

The beginnings of psychology practices and centres has started but it's a new form of mental health in China. Pretty much the same as our countries some 40 - 50 years ago. We always considered it mumbo jumbo type of medical aid and a sort of admission that you were basically nuts. Things like depression and trauma counselling are starting here but it's a long road. And Psychiatry? They don't realise that a psychiatrist has to actually be a qualified doctor as well.

Sadly, there's going to be a lot of 'crazies' wandering around not getting help, a lot of murders and many more suicides before mental health becomes a real recognized issue!!

Honestly I think they use the mental health as excuse to cover up for the fact their racist propaganda is to blame.

Anytime sb does sth like this "they are mentally ill" (Chinese people are perfect)
