Q: I have become a guinea pig myself.......

My GF is really into making tea and drinking it all day long made out of mushrooms.  She buys them of all colors, sizes and shapes (maybe as much as 5 or 6 different ones), and has them cut in slices and ground them to powder form.  Depending on mushroom, it cost from 300 to as much as 1000 Rmb per kilo.

According to her, as per whatever ailments you may have, you select the different types of mushrooms.  Anything from anti high blood pressure, diabetics and high cholesterol, propensity to colds and improve immune system, clean blood vessels and improve blood circulation, clean urinary track, help kidneys stay healthy, better sleep patterns, keep away white hairs, make you look younger, etc.  The list goes on and on.

Well, since she is into this, I decided to give it a try even if I do not have any problems to speak of.  I have been doing it for one week now, about 10 to 12 glasses of this "mixture" each day.  I must say that in a way, I have noticed two things already, I do sleep better at night, and I do feel like having more "strength", or the get up and go mental power to get off my butt and get things done.  I may try this for as long as 3 months and see what happens.

I am just wondering if any one out there has done any mushroom tea drinking, and what they may think of it.

Thanks.

Never heard of it but sounds good.  How much are you spending on this?  Does it taste like mushroom?  Where is your gf buying the mushrooms?  I might try it

Well, mushrooms are good for you, right? Can you overdose on mushrooms? It could be a placebo effect combined with extra hydration, unless you were lacking in vitamins. It certainly doesn't hurt you...? It sounds expensive though.

I think we all have become guinea pigs at one time or another in our lives. I know those dreadful demos made me feel like one.

Don't they eat guinea pig here? gee I loved Campbells mushroom sup growing up, never noticed any difference. Maybe you get a little magic mushroom in the mix.

It does not taste like mushrooms like in a meal, it is like a bitter taste, but not that bad.

Again, depending the type of mushroom you put in the particular mix you select, you will be charged.  We buy either one jin or one kilo, depending on expenses.  One kilo will last about a month, and normally we do pay between 300 to 450 Rmb for it.

I wish I could read Chinese characters, because each type of mushroom is displayed in a plastic container, with a paper on top explaining what it is good for.  It seems that everytime I drink a glass of it, I am told it is good for something else.

Hell, according to my GF, the fellow at the sales booth in the local market told her that there is one mushroom from Burma that will even cure cancer.  Ja, Ja, makes me wonder how "gulible" they really are .   Maybe this is why I decided to start drinking it fror three months, and see if any changes occur.

I've had mushroom tea once, but they were different types of mushrooms than you're referring to, I think... like Phil said, not the best idea ever! Happy's mushrooms sound like a better idea.

Yes, I use for my high blood pressure, it actually has worked better than the pills. If your getting them from a traditional hospital or a chemist, you're fine.

Well, for me it was not a "macho type" decision, it was well thought out.  First, it is not a poison that will kill me, my GF has been drinking it for almost one year and still alive.  Second, she is so convinced of its merits that I thought that a three months trial by me would not be a great risk.  Now, I do not have high blood pressure (mine is 118/63 right now), nor cholesterol, diabetics, or anything similar.  So, I have no idea of what it will do.  But so far I have noticed 3 things in about 1-1/2 weeks, I do sleep better, I do have more get up and go, and last, my intestines seem to be working overtime, while I normally went for No 2 once per day, now it is 3 or 4 times per day, and I have lost 1 Kg of weight.

The are natural decomposers, the bacteria is well known for cleaning both blood and the digestive system. They also increase metabolism and the flow of blood. You really can't go wrong with mushrooms, well unless you get the wrong ones, sounds like you're on the right path

People who need to improve their immune system are those with dumbass parents who fed them with medicine for cold while they were children, if you take medicine for little things then your body relies on it and doesn't develop its own immune system the way it should, and this is the case in China, people go to the doctor and take tons of medicine for little things, that's why they all get sick all the time as adults and need to take their superstitious teas (that don't work anyway) in order to try to improve their defenses. My parents never gave me medicine except in extreme cases, never for cold, when I had fever I stayed in my bed and slept all day, now as an adult I never get sick, the last time I went to the doctor (except for the visa health check) was in 2007, Chinese are going there every month or so.

A:Your potential employer is right! Purpose of the Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after entry to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
