Q: Is it just older people who dance in public?

Most of what I've seen are old people dancing to American 70s-80s music or taiji.

Does the younger generation not like to dance?

A lot of them seem to be very shy. Or, if it's like anything in America, maybe they think it is silly or embarrassing to dance like that with older people. I think the younger generation would rather hang out with friends, go shopping, watch movies, play games...the list goes on.

That's a really good question. I find the old people dancing in public to be absolutely fascinating, especially since they are out at all hours of the day. I've seen them as early as around 6am and as late as 11pm. I think the first post is right, though; young people don't have time. Plus I think the older people are doing it to stay active and young people bustling about the city don't really have any difficulty remaining active.

Before you judge someone walk a mile in their shoes, that way you're a mile away and you have their shoes!

I've seen a few young foxy ladies dancing but yeah, it's mostly older women. I guess they think it's good for blood circulation or something. It is entertaining to watch though. I have to do it from a distance because they always ask me to join them. -_-

Only the old people dance by choice.  I join them and when a crowd gathers to watch, I drag people and make them join.

Old people dance on the street and young people dance in the bars, it ain't a dying art.

Many university students enjoy dancing too.

70 or 80s tunes? I'd join them.. then make their ears bleed when I sing along. But do you mean by.. "older" people... in their 40s and 50s? Or senior citizens swinging to Duran Duran and Ozzy?
