Of course.
Nowadays,China is playing a major role in world affairs and will continue to do so.
As the Esperanto language , Chinese as a vital role in the internatinal business.
Undoubtedly ,China has a huge market with big potential and broad prospects in all respects .
Recent years, there is a surge of learning Chinese in the world.
Most countries have request their schools to open the Chinese class for their students.Such as USA,UK,etc.

Actually you have asked two questions.
I would say yes, learning Mandarin will allow you more opportunities for advancement in your chosen field. But you must be aware of one thing, if you are not a Chinese national. By Law in China, any job opening or opportunity for advancement must be given to a Chinese person, and only if there are no Chinese qualified to perform that particular task, then it can be offered to a foreigner. So, even if you do speak Mandarin, your opportunities will be severely limited.
And your second question is if there is a plus in doing business in China. With the Chinese economy expanding only at an 8 % rate this year, there are still many opportunities out there for those with the "savy" and drive to recognize them and act upon finding them. It is a risk, as any business will be, but if you are smart and work hard at it, it could be quite rewarding.

If you are very interesting at learning languages and got talent of it and you have a lot of time, sure, it would be always good for you to have one more language.
But Chinese is regarded as a most complicated language, you'd better mentally prepare before you start it.
I am a native Chinese speaker, graduated from "Chinese Teaching as a sencond language" major, and sincerely tell you it's not a easy trick.
